Boundary Report information

Confirm key boundary information about a property or piece of land.

The documents (deeds) held by the Register are reviewed, the Boundary Report is then compiled and written to clearly identify key information about the property's boundaries.

  1. Which of the property's boundary features (fences/walls), if any, the property owner is responsible to maintain.
  2. If there are specifications for the boundary features (e.g. a solid wood fence 6ft high).
  3. The specific dimensions of the property's land, if the property's land is registered with exact measurements.

This easy to understand report will include official copies of the relevant deeds and plans for the property as proof to support all of its findings.

Boundary Report FAQs

What does a Boundary Report check?

It checks available title documents for boundary responsibilities, boundary specifications, boundary features and exact measurements where shown.

Will it show which fence or wall I am responsible for?

Where the available documents identify responsibility for boundary features, the report will explain which fences, walls or other features the property owner may be responsible to maintain.

Will it show boundary measurements?

If the property's land is registered with exact measurements, the report will identify the specific dimensions shown in the available documents.

Does it decide legal boundary disputes?

No. The report explains what is shown in available documents. It does not replace independent legal advice if there is a formal dispute.

Will supporting documents be included?

Yes. Official copies of available deeds and plans are included where they support the report's findings.

What if I only know the address?

You can enter the property address. If the property or land cannot be identified by address, you can request a map-based search.
